The Kali Story
Kali Protectives was founded by Brad Waldron with a straightforward and somewhat radical premise: all helmets are too hard, and the industry's testing standards are too low. Rather than accept the status quo, Waldron set out to push helmet technology in a direction that actually matched the reality of how cyclists crash.
The result was Composite Fusion — a proprietary process that bonds the helmet shell and foam at a molecular level, enabling a thinner, lighter shell without sacrificing structural integrity. Lighter and stronger means less mass attached to your head, and a helmet that genuinely performs better in an impact instead of just passing a minimum threshold test.
That founding obsession with safety hasn't faded. Kali's team still cuts open crashed helmets, measures deformation patterns, and feeds that data directly into the next generation of designs. It's a feedback loop that most brands don't bother with. Kali built their entire identity around it.
The Technology
Beyond Composite Fusion, Kali's Comprehensive Protection Strategy (CPS) means every helmet in their lineup is designed with all crash scenarios in mind — rotational, lateral, direct, and the unpredictable ones that don't fit a neat category. They're also one of the few brands with a Lifetime Crash Replacement (LCR) policy: crash your helmet, return it, and they'll replace it.
