Which Still Peaking Skills Session Is Right for You?

Still Peaking offers four group skills sessions, each designed to build on the last. Whether you're clipping in for the first time or hunting down gnarly technical lines, there's a session built for exactly where you are right now — and a clear path to where you want to go.

Here's a breakdown of each session, who it's for, and how they work together as a progression.

Essential Skills — 2 Hours | $150

The ideal starting point for newer riders. Essential Skills takes place in a controlled, open environment and covers everything that makes mountain biking safer and more fun from day one: body position, braking, shifting, steering, and basic bike setup.

You'll finish the session knowing how to stop and start with confidence, maintain balance through intentional positioning, and change direction at slower speeds — the building blocks that everything else is built on.

Who it's for: Riders who can balance and pedal a bike and want to learn the fundamentals the right way, from the start. If you're brand new to MTB or returning after a long break, this is your entry point.

Fundamental Skills — 3 Hours | $200

Ready to level up? Fundamental Skills builds directly off everything covered in Essential Skills and pushes into more dynamic terrain and more demanding technique. You'll work on progressive cornering at higher speeds, efficient climbing, safe descending, and intermediate trail features like switchbacks and steeper pitches.

This session is where riders start to feel the difference between reacting to the trail and actually riding it.

Who it's for: Riders who've completed Essential Skills (or equivalent) and are ready to move beyond the basics. If you can comfortably clean green trails and want to start riding blues with real confidence, this is your next step.

Flow Skills — 6 Hours | $350

Ever watch a rider glide through a berm or pump a roller like the trail is doing the work for them? That's flow — and it's exactly what this full-day session is about. Flow Skills takes place mostly on trail and covers descending with control, carving berms, pumping rollers, and proper jumping technique to get your wheels off the ground safely.

This is where riding stops feeling like effort and starts feeling like movement.

Who it's for: Riders who've mastered Fundamental Skills and are ready to chase that feeling of effortless trail flow. If you want to finally understand jumps, berms, and speed with real technique behind it, this session delivers.

Technical Skills — 6 Hours | $350

Rocks, roots, drops, and steep terrain — this is where riding gets real. Technical Skills is a full day on trail tackling the gnarlier side of mountain biking: advanced braking technique, stopping and restarting on steep terrain, navigating rock gardens, and hitting drops with confidence. Expect climbing to reach trailheads and session features throughout the day.

This session is about removing hesitation from the features that used to shut you down.

Who it's for: Riders who've completed Fundamental Skills and are ready to push into advanced, technical terrain. Flow Skills and Technical Skills are natural complements — many riders eventually complete both, as they develop different but equally important parts of a complete trail skill set.

How the Sessions Work Together

The four sessions form a deliberate progression:

Essential Skills → Fundamental Skills → Flow Skills and/or Technical Skills

Essential and Fundamental build the foundation — body mechanics, control, and confidence on progressively more demanding terrain. Flow and Technical branch from there into two distinct directions: one focused on speed and fluidity, the other on raw technical challenge. Many riders pursue both over time, and the skills developed in each feed directly into the other.

All sessions are capped at 6 riders to maximize your time with the instructor, and every session includes a bike safety check, initial skills assessment, instructor demonstrations, and hands-on learning.

Want Something Completely Custom?

Group sessions are structured around a shared curriculum, which means they're designed for a range of riders at a similar level. If you have very specific goals — a particular trail feature you're trying to conquer, preparation for a trip or race, or simply a preference for one-on-one focus — a private session gives you a fully customized experience built entirely around you.

Private bookings set the instructor's attention on your movement patterns, your trail choices, and your personal progression. It's the fastest path to a specific breakthrough.

Not Sure Where to Start?

If you're genuinely unsure which session fits, start with an honest assessment of where you're riding right now. Can you clean green trails comfortably? Essential or Fundamental is your range. Do you ride blues regularly but freeze up on technical features or feel like flow is missing? Flow or Technical is calling. Still unsure? Reach out — the right session is always the one that meets you where you actually are.
