MTB Leadership Certificate
Become the leader riders trust — keep your group safer, smoother, and more confident on every ride.
Designed for non-profit ride leaders, bike shop staff, summer camp employees and counselors, and anyone stepping into a group leadership role on trail, this hybrid course gives you the knowledge and real-world practice to lead mountain bike groups confidently and responsibly. Participants who pass the final assessment earn the Still Peaking MTB Leadership Certificate.
Online Module
You'll cover group management fundamentals, communication techniques, pacing, and handling mixed-ability groups; bike and helmet safety checks; building an Emergency Plan of Action (EPA); and route planning and risk assessment. We also cover the basics of working with trail stewards, land managers, and understanding your responsibilities as a ride leader.
In-Person Clinic & Assessment (6 hours)
Put it all into practice on trail. You'll develop your essential riding skills, learn to spot unsafe riding and make basic corrections in real time, and work through interactive group-management exercises and on-trail navigation. Practical drills will sharpen your ability to read riders, cue corrections safely, and hold standards without alienating participants. The session concludes with a practical assessment — pass it and you'll earn the Still Peaking MTB Leadership Certificate.
